A date night idea in Leslieville: make something together

If you are tired of dinner and a movie, try making something together. A pottery class gives you two hours side by side, something to laugh about (everyone's first bowl wobbles), and two pieces each to take home as a souvenir of the night.

How it works

Book two spots in Try Wheel Throwing ($90 each) at our studio at 250 Carlaw Ave, Unit 105, Toronto. An instructor gets you set up, shows you how to centre the clay and helps you shape your pieces. No experience needed. Prefer something calmer where you can talk the whole time? Try Hand Building ($80 each) is perfect for that.

Two to three weeks later you come back together for a glazing session to colour your pieces. That is a second date already planned.

Make a night of it

  • Before: grab a coffee or an early dinner on Queen Street East, a few minutes away.
  • After: Crow's Theatre is just up Carlaw Ave if you want to see a show, or take a walk through the neighbourhood.

Tips for a great pottery date

  • Wear clothes that can handle a bit of clay. We provide aprons.
  • Don't aim for perfect. The wonky mug is the one you will keep.
  • Make each other something. Swap pieces when you glaze.

Questions we get asked

Is pottery a good first date?

Yes. You are busy with your hands, so there are no awkward silences, and there is plenty to laugh about.

Can we book a private session for two?

For a private experience, look at our adult private events, or send us a message and we will help.

Is it a good gift for a partner?

Very. An OOTB gift card lets them pick the date that suits you both.
